IMID Nurse

Gespecialiseerde verpleegkundigen vervullen een essentiële functie in de zorg voor patiënten met Immune Mediated Inflammatory Diseases of IMID.

Dit is een brede groep van auto-immune aandoeningen die gekenmerkt worden door inflammatie en die zich situeren in de domeinen gastro-enterologie, reumatologie en dermatologie. Deze patiënten hebben vaak verschillende aandoeningen die overlappen in hun klinische presentatie en behandeling. Daarom is het van groot belang dat verpleegkundigen beschikken over diepgaande kennis van de klinische praktijk en competenties die de grenzen van hun specifieke vakgebied overstijgen. 

We focussen in deze opleiding op de verschillende mogelijke IMID-behandelingen, een goede ziektecontrole en klinische opvolging maar ook het belang van een goede communicatie met patiënten en de leden van multidisciplinaire team. Hierbij staat evidence-based nursing centraal en toon je in je afstudeerpaper hoe praktijk en onderzoek onlosmakelijk verbonden zijn.

Deze opleiding wordt georganiseerd in samenwerking met BIRD (Belgian Inflammatory Bowel Disease Research and Development Group) - BINAstoria (Belgian IBD nurses and study coordinators association), BeHPR (Belgian Health Professionals in Rheumatology), KBVR (koninklijke vereniging van Reumatologen in België) en BDNA (Belgian Dermatology Nurse Association).
Deze opleiding voorziet een therapie-overschrijdend opleidingsprogramma voor verpleegkundigen over de diverse disciplines (gastro-enterologie, reumatologie en dermatologie) heen. Hierbij staan volgende uitganspunten centraal:

• een positieve en houdbare balans tussen werk, leven en studie 
• praktijkgericht met focus op casuïstiek
• stage op de eigen werkplek 

Specialist nurses play a crucial role in the care of patients with Immune Mediated Inflammatory Diseases (IMID).

This encompasses a broad spectrum of autoimmune conditions characterized by inflammation, spanning across the fields of gastroenterology, rheumatology, and dermatology. These patients often present with overlapping clinical conditions and treatments. Therefore, it is imperative that nurses possess extensive knowledge of clinical practice and competencies that transcend the boundaries of their respective fields.

In this programme, we focus on various IMID treatments, achieving disease control, and clinical monitoring as well as the importance of effective communication with patients and members of the multidisciplinary team. Evidence-based nursing is at the core of this postgraduate course and in your final paper, you will demonstrate the inseparable connection between practice and research.
